Bodycam Zombies Mode
Round-based co-op survival on Asylum and Village: power systems, boss fights, the crossbow, gear puzzles, and how to survive longer than the last squad.
Bodycam Zombies is a round-based co-op survival mode for up to four players, available on the Asylum and Village maps. It is a fundamentally different experience from the PvP multiplayer modes — slower, more methodical, and heavily dependent on squad coordination rather than individual skill. Where PvP rewards fast reflexes and map knowledge, Zombies rewards loadout planning, puzzle-solving, and the ability to stay calm under escalating pressure.
The mode was added in November 2025 alongside the Unreal Engine 5.5 upgrade. It is included with the base game at no additional cost. There is no confirmed official ending — rounds continue escalating until the squad is wiped.
Getting Into Zombies Mode
Zombies mode is accessible from the main menu. Look for the Zombies option in the mode selection screen. You can queue solo (with AI or empty squad) or with a squad of up to four players. Matchmaking is available if you do not have a full group.
Each map has its own Zombies instance. Asylum Zombies and Village Zombies are separate experiences with different maps, different puzzles, and different boss mechanics. You can switch between them at the mode select screen.
Asylum Map — Layout and Key Areas
Asylum is the original Zombies map and the most detailed interior environment in Bodycam. The multi-floor layout creates close-quarters survival challenges with multiple vertical levels of zombies approaching simultaneously.
Ground Floor: The starting area. Relatively manageable zombie density, but the floor has multiple entry points from upper levels and the basement. Establish an initial defensive position here before pushing deeper.
Caution Floor (second floor): Contains the generator that powers the power system. One player needs to stay alive to run the generator while others hold off zombies. Once powered, this floor unlocks the Red Room (Armory) on the same level, which contains the best weapon pickups on the map. The generator room has a gun room with additional loot but requires the Caution Floor power to be active.
Red Room (Armory, second floor): The primary loot area on Asylum. Once power is active, this room contains weapon drops and attachment pickups. It is also a high-danger area because all players who push for loot here create noise that attracts zombie hordes.
Basement: Contains the camera and monitor room. The basement has a different zombie behavior pattern — zombies approach from fewer angles but in larger groups. The chamber is accessed from the basement on some configurations.
The Chamber: The final area. Contains the boss fight. Accessing the chamber requires solving the power and gear puzzles on the preceding floors. The boss in Asylum is a large, high-health zombie that requires sustained fire from multiple players to defeat.
Village Map — Open Terrain Survival
Village is the second Zombies map and provides a dramatically different challenge from Asylum’s interior. The open snowy terrain means zombies can approach from any direction, which requires a completely different defensive strategy.
Central Church: One of the most defensible positions on Village. Limited entry points, high ground advantage, and good sightlines. However, the church is a high-priority target for zombie hordes and will be overwhelmed if too much noise is made inside.
Cemetery: High-danger zone with multiple entry points. The boss fight location for the second boss is here — see the boss section below. The glowing grave mechanic requires precise coordination.
Underground Mines: Provide the best protection from multi-directional swarm approaches because they are enclosed. However, the mine tunnels also limit your movement options and can become a trap if zombies enter from behind.
Police Station: Contains weapon and equipment pickups. Similar to the Red Room on Asylum, it attracts zombie attention when entered.
Power System — Both Maps
Both Asylum and Village have a power system that must be activated to unlock key areas, weapons, and capabilities. The power system requires co-op coordination: one player activates a switch or lever while another player simultaneously holds the corresponding activation point.
On Asylum: the generator on the Caution Floor must be activated. The generator room is accessible from the main stairwell. One player runs to the generator and holds the activation until it is running. The other players hold off zombies in the surrounding area.
On Village: the power system is tied to the gear puzzles and the boss fight mechanics. Activating power in certain areas opens routes that are otherwise locked and enables the equipment needed for the boss encounter.
The power system is the key strategic layer of Zombies mode. A squad that coordinates power activation efficiently will survive significantly longer than a squad that treats it as an afterthought.
Boss Fights
Each map has a boss fight that occurs after the preceding floors or areas are cleared.
Village Second Boss — The Grave Trick: The second boss on Village is defeated using the glowing grave mechanic. The boss follows sound, which means a player can draw it toward a specific glowing grave in the cemetery area. Lead the boss to the grave while the rest of the squad deals damage from behind. This requires coordination — if the player drawing the boss dies, the boss resets its position. The mechanic rewards players who understand that sound is both a threat and a weapon in Zombies mode.
Asylum Boss — The Chamber: The boss encounter in Asylum’s Chamber is a straight survival fight. The boss is large, has significant health, and spawns additional zombie adds during the fight. The key to winning is maintaining situational awareness — the adds are often more dangerous than the boss itself because they are smaller, faster, and harder to track.
The Crossbow — Zombies-Exclusive Weapon
The crossbow was added in November 2025 alongside Zombies mode. It is exclusively available in Zombies mode and cannot be used in PvP.
Silent fire: The crossbow makes no noise when fired. Silent kills do not attract additional zombies, which is a genuine tactical advantage when you are trying to be surgical.
Explosive bolts: Each bolt deals area-of-effect damage on impact. Against regular zombies, one bolt can kill multiple zombies clustered together. Against special zombies, the explosive damage is a significant advantage.
Slow cycle time: The crossbow’s biggest weakness is its fire rate. After firing, there is a meaningful delay before the next bolt can be loaded. This makes it a precision weapon, not a spray weapon. It rewards patience and positioning rather than aggression.
Best use cases: The crossbow is ideal for taking out special zombies silently, for engaging clustered zombie groups from range, and for the Village boss fight where silence keeps the rest of the zombie population from joining the encounter.
Loadout Recommendations for Zombies
The weapon builder matters differently in Zombies than in PvP. Ammo economy is critical because you cannot buy ammo mid-round. Weapons with good base capacity and solid reload times are more valuable than weapons with maximum damage but small magazines.
ARs are the most practical all-around Zombies weapons. They offer good fire rate, manageable recoil, decent capacity, and the ability to handle both regular and special zombies effectively.
Shotguns are valuable for close-quarters horde management. When zombies funnel through a doorway or staircase, a shotgun with decent spread can eliminate an entire group before they reach you.
Extended magazines are more valuable in Zombies than in PvP because reloads during a horde wave can be deadly. A quick-release magazine that cuts reload time is also valuable for the same reason.
The crossbow should be in your loadout as a secondary weapon for situations where silence is worth more than fire rate.
See the Zombies Tier List for full weapon recommendations and the Weapon Builder for attachment priorities.
Solo vs Squad Survival
Solo Zombies is possible but significantly harder. Without squad coordination for power puzzles and boss fights, you will hit a ceiling earlier than a coordinated four-player squad. The Village boss fight in particular is extremely difficult solo.
A coordinated squad that communicates — calling out zombie positions, coordinating power activation, and dividing boss damage — will consistently survive longer than four solo players queuing together. Voice chat is strongly recommended for Zombies.
How Long Can You Survive?
There is no confirmed official round cap. Players report that rounds continue escalating indefinitely until the squad is wiped. Zombie count, zombie speed, special zombie frequency, and boss encounter frequency all increase per round. The game does not soft-cap or narratively end — the challenge is purely survival-based.
Häufige Fragen
Schnelle Antworten auf die Fragen, die Bodycam-Spieler vor dem Einsatz am meisten suchen.
How do I access Zombies mode in Bodycam?
Zombies mode is available from the main menu mode select screen. You can queue solo or with a squad of up to four players. Asylum and Village are separate map selections.
What is the crossbow in Zombies mode?
Added November 2025, the crossbow is a Zombies-exclusive weapon with silent fire and explosive bolts. It deals high single-target damage, does not attract additional zombies when fired silently, and has a slow cycle time. It cannot be used in PvP.
How do I activate the power system on Asylum?
The generator is on the Caution Floor (second floor). One player runs to the generator and holds the activation while others hold off zombies. Once active, the Red Room (Armory) and other powered areas unlock.
How do I defeat the Village boss?
The second boss follows sound. Lead it to a glowing grave in the cemetery area while your squad deals damage from behind. If the player drawing the boss dies, the boss resets.
Can I play Zombies solo?
Yes, solo Zombies is possible but significantly harder. The Village boss fight is particularly difficult solo. A coordinated four-player squad will survive considerably longer than solo play.
